Coming Soon – Butterfly Jam

Over the last two years, Ronnie’s Bar has developed a reputation as the top live music venue in the town. It’s a reputation that has been as prevalent amongst the bands every bit as much as with the music fans in Macclesfield.

“I don’t think anyone only plays here once.” Said Ronnie Rees, owner of the venue.

Butterfly Jam Image 2“From local bands such as the Virginmarys to international acts like Australian Carus Thompson, once people have experienced the vibrant atmosphere and top quality sound-system they want to come back and play here again.”

Butterfly Jam first played Duke’s Court back in spring and proved a great success and are back in action on Wednesday 21st October.

Both Melanie Williams and Joe Roberts already have hit singles on their CV, and this is their latest musical metamorphosis… A five piece unit of Heavy Soul!

Joe [Roberts] said: ” Ronnies is unique venue for us in that we get the combined elements of a great sound with an outdoor mini festival atmosphere. Our version of Woodstock fits beautifully!”

Combining songs from their past and present, their soulful influences create a fusion between heavy grooves and matters of the heart. The live band delivers an exciting and raw interpretation of their studio recordings which are also soon to be released.

Ronnie added: “These guys have been in the business for years and that experience shines through in their live set. It’s great to have them back here in the Courtyard because we know that it will be a fantastic evening.”

Open Mic Every Tuesday Night

Posted on 01. Oct, 2009 by martin in Live at Ronnie's | No Comments

Open mic nights at Ronnie’s are going from strength to strength!

Local musician, songwriter and all round top bloke Gary Baker is doing a great job of hosting the evening entertainment (every Tuesday night from 9pm), with the quality of performers and atmosphere exceeding expectations every week.

The format is simple; Local musicians, comedians, poets, songwriters etc arrive at Ronnie’s and are allocated a slot on the mic by Gary.  Each then uses their slot to try out new material, play to an audience for the first time or just share their talents with an appreciative crowd.

The informal nature of the evening means that you never quite know how the night will develop or who will perform.  From collaborations between musicians jamming, to friends encouraging mates previously too shy, to get up and have a go, the programme is never the same from week to week but always entertaining.

So wether you are an experienced performer or just starting out, or you just like the idea of a full  evening of quality and spontaneous entertainment for free, Tuesday nights at Ronnie’s are the place to be!
