This Week at Ronnie’s

Posted on May 25, 2011 in Ronnie's News

It’s back to normality again this week. FOM Fest certainly dominated Macclesfield’s social scene at the weekend, and it was a great event. We all enjoyed it, it was hard work so I didn’t get to see much of the Festival as a whole but the quality of the bands in the Ronnie’s tent was exceptional so I didn’t miss out much. I did manage to get out to see a bit of Bad Lieutenant and the Virginmarys; I also caught the end of the fantastic ACR.

But because we were busy throughout, the highlights for me were all in the Ronnie’s Tent. Maisie Johnson then Glass Ankle got proceedings off to a flyer on the Friday quickly followed by a stunning set from Rough Twist who were quite simply tremendous. I also have to mention the outstanding Butterfly Jam set on Sunday evening, which was pure class.

Anyway, this week we have the added bonus of a bank holiday weekend so it’s like having two Saturday nights to look forward to.

Tuesday – As with every week we have an evening of fantastic live music for you here in Duke’s Court with our open mic night. If you’ve not been down yet, you’re really missing out.

Wednesday – What better way to enjoy getting halfway through the week than classic cocktails here at Ronnie’s. They’ll be the best you’ve ever tasted – especially if you choose from our premium list.

But clubcard holders can also get two selected cocktails for just a tenner.

Thursday – Another great offer for clubcard holders – it’s double points Thursdays. Thursday is the new Friday, so earn yourself some free drinks here at Ronnie’s.

Friday – It’s another long weekend and it starts on Friday night with our resident Friday DJs Bert and Brighty. Open late, it’s the best atmosphere night in Macc.

Saturday – Summer’s here so join us in the day for the Champions League final before Steeve Mac brings us his Sunshine Groove Thing – Part One.

Sunday – It’s a Bank Holiday so we are open late. Steeve Mac is back with the Sunshine Groove Thing – Part Two.Monday – Bank Holiday’s are pretty much made for sitting in the sun watching some live music. So we have Macc Sabbath (yeah, we know the name works better on a Sunday!). An all day live music event – all for free.

Check back to later for the full line-up of acts.

Finally, my cocktail of the week this week has to be the Mojito, made with Pampero Especial (Golden) Rum. We banged out loads of these at FOM Fest and they are just a great refreshing drink. And as Macc Sabbath this weekend (on Bank Holiday Monday) will have a bit of a FOM Fest revisited feel to it, why not add a few Mojitos to get back into the festival mood? (And of course they are only two for ten pounds with a Ronnie’s Club Card!)
See you soon
