This ‘Royal Wedding’ Week at Ronnie’s

Posted on April 26, 2011 in Ronnie's News

What a great weekend we’ve just had. Great weather, wonderful live  music from George Borowski, with fantastic support acts Sophie Stock and Maisie Johnson on Sunday and as usual a great atmosphere generated by our superb DJs across four days on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Well if you enjoyed that, there’s more to come with another four day weekend thanks to William and Kate’s wedding on Friday and the usual May Day bank holiday on Monday. And added to that its pay day (for most) this week as well.

So here’s what we’ve got lined up…..

Tuesday – It’s our fantastic open mic night. If you enjoy live music from talented people, or if you fancy having a go in front of our audience yourself, then come along on Tuesday night and join us here in Duke’s Court. We’ll also have the Manchester United Champions League match on the screens.

Wednesday – It might be the Royal Wedding week, but top hat and tails are optional for our classic cocktail Wednesdays. (And we’ve also got live football from Real Madrid and Barcelona.. The Royal Wedding can’t boast that!)

Thursday – The weekend really does start here and we have Steeve Mac bringing you the best atmosphere in town. It’s the Royal Wedding Stag and Hen Night.. So bring your ‘L’ Plates and get ready to send Prince William on a train to Edinburgh.. Naked.

Friday – You can’t avoid it, so we’ll have the Royal Wedding on the screens so you can follow their progress through the day. And why not toast the happy couple (or at least toast the free day off) with a few of the best cocktails you’ve ever tasted here at Ronnie’s Bar. DJs Bert and Brighty are on duty to bring us their usual great music selection.

Saturday – Whilst ‘Wills and Kate’ are whisked away on their honeymoon, we’re still here at Ronnie’s. So why not join us for more live football (see our schedule later in the week) before Steeve Mac returns to keep us going right into Sunday Morning.

Sunday – More live football in the afternoon and Steeve Mac’s Sunshine Groove Thing until 3.00am, to celebrate another bank holiday Monday.

Monday – We have even more live music in the shape of our Rock the House ‘Battle of the Bands’. The winning band will go on to represent Macclesfield at a gig in Westminster as part of the cross parliament initiative Rock The House. I’ve written about this before, but it is a very worthy recognition of the huge value performing arts bring to this country, so it really should be well supported by anybody interested in live music, whether you’re a musician, a fan or both.

As well as the chance to show your support for your particular favourite band on the day, you can vote for them online at http://www.ronnies-bar.co.uk/you/rock-the-house/ . The winning band will get the chance to perform in front of some high ranking record industry folk and the opportunity to win shit loads of Yamaha instruments and equipment. It should be a great day that will once again show case what great depth of musical talent there is in Macclesfield.

See you soon.

The heart of live entertainment in Macc!

PS my favourite cocktail this week is fruity, nice and the perfect accompaniment to this great weather. The French Martini is one of our best selling cocktails for very good reason – it’s great! And they’re 2 for £10 with a Ronnie’s Club Card

PPS Talking of Ronnie’s Club Cards we have just updated the system and there are a host of benefits that make them well worth having. And if you’re quick enough and you exchange your old card for the new updated cards there’s even a free cocktail waiting for you. Click Ronnie’s Club Cards for more details!
