This Week at Ronnies – BATTLE OF THE BANDS

Posted on March 1, 2011 in Ronnie's News

Our live music Sunday’s are going from strength to Strength with another fantastic MAcc Sabbath event in the Courtyard.

So, how do we follow that then? How can we make this week’s entertainment, drinks and service just as memorable?

Well with superb top quality entertainment like this:

Tuesday – It’s the world famous (We know for a fact that there’s people in Australia that know about it…) Ronnie’s Bar open mic night. We’ve long been extoling the virtues of the Macclesfield music scene – just look at our Battle of the Bands to play at FOMFEST in March this weekend – but this is where is all starts.

Genuinely talented people  just enjoying the opportunity to perform in front of an appreciative crowd. It’s always a great night, so don’t miss out.

Plus for Football fans we have the small matter of Man United v Chelsea. Can United do City a favour and will Rooney’s elbow beat Ashley Cole’s shooting ability? (Once a Gunner.. Always a Gunner)

Wednesday – It’s the FA Cup as City play Villa.

Thursday – We start the weekend early at Ronnie’s, with Steeve Mac on Thursday nights. Why not give one of our top five cocktails a try and just not bother with work on Friday.

Friday – More from our resident DJs as Bert and Brighty take us through into Saturday morning.

Saturday – Steeve Mac is back for the best Saturday night in town.

Sunday – Battle of the Bands – From 3.30pm.

The ‘Friends of Mine’ Festival is getting closer and we have been given the chance to offer two local bands an amazing opportunity. To play LIVE alongside the likes of The Charlatans. The Fall. Buzzcocks. Twisted Wheel. Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, Bad Lieutenant…. And could go on.

We’ve got the first heat of the Ronnie’s Bar ‘Battle of the Bands’ as some of the best live music in Macc fight it out for the chance to play in front of 10,000 people. Not too shabby. We’ll be sending out another mailshot this week with the full details and line-up.

And of course we have a weekend of live football.

Saturday – 12.45: Birmingham v West Brom – 3.00: Arsenal v Sunderland – 5.15: Man City v Wigan

Sunday – Liverpool v Man United and Wolves v Spurs

As for the drinks, well we’ve restocked the shelves of everything and are adding a new rum, The Kraken.

The Kraken is a dark spiced Caribbean rum with its old-style bottle and superlative packaging seeming to earmark it out for greatness, and perhaps it will help some of those many guests nursing an old-recipe-Sailor-Jerry-sized hole in their hearts as well as bringing a whole new audience to the pleasures of quality spiced rums.

And you may recall that we had a bottle to try a few weeks ago, here’s some feedback:

“To me it’s a completely different taste to the old Sailor Jerry’s….coffee / caramel as opposed to the vanilla / cinnamon. The Kraken is a far superior rum, and Kraken Bombs are amazing.” – Becky W

“What blew me away is just how smooth it is. There is NO burn which is astounding, considering its 47%.” – Rob J

And to launch it we’re offering Ronnie’s Clubcard members a chance to win a bottle of this great new rum. For every Kraken based drink you buy you’ll get entered into our prize draw to win the bottle. Couldn’t be simpler.

See you soon

Ronnie
