Ronnie’s Battle of the Bands for a chance to play at the Friends of Mine Festival in May….

Posted on February 9, 2011 in Ronnie's News

As you know we like live music at Ronnie’s. Especially original live music. After all quality music (whether it’s a live band or one of our superb DJs) is a major part of the fantastic atmosphere at Ronnie’s, along of course with the excellent staff, fantastic location and premium quality drinks.

And we like to keep you informed about the great stuff we have lined up each week, bands, DJs, special offers for Ronnie’s Clubcard holders, new products, etc. But this week, for once, I also want to let you know about a major music event beyond the boundaries of  the ground floor at Dukes Court as we have made an amazing arrangement with the Friends of Mine Festival at Capesthorne Hall on May 20th, 21st & 22nd . Friends of Mine promises to be a brilliant festival with a great line up of bands including The Charlatans, The Buzzcocks, Lightning Seeds, A Certain Ratio and more. Here’s what Tim Burgess of The Charlatans thinks of it:

“The incredible Capesthorne Hall is only 20 minutes from The Charlatans studio and it has the makings of an amazing couple of days in the Cheshire countryside. It’s a weekend near my birthday, so I wanted to have my friends over anyway – throw in a Jacobean mansion, a lake, 10,000 people, lots of the best bands in the world and it’s close to perfection!”

So Ronnie’s couldn’t ignore this fantastic event on our doorstep and have managed to ensure that some of the best unsigned Macclesfield talent is represented at the festival. We have also secured a good deal for anyone wishing to go to the festival. This is just for starters

Rough Twist, Ronnie’s resident band will be performing at the Festival as will the bar’s Friday Night DJ’s Bert and Brighty. If they can get such a great atmosphere going here at Duke’s Court, imagine what they can do in front of thousands!

There’s also an opportunity for two other local Macclesfield Bands to perform at the festival to be decided through a Battle of the Bands competition held at Ronnie’s through March and April.

There will be four heats and two finals. The winners of each final will get a slot performing live at Friends of Mine alongside, as Tim Burgess points out, some of the best bands in the World
