Ketel One

Here at Ronnie’s we pride ourselves on giving you quality. Since we opened we have poured with Smirnoff Black Vodka, the top of the range Smirnoff Vodka. It really is a great drink distilled from Russian grain, made in Copper Stills and charcoal filtered it is by far the smoothest tasting mass produced vodka on the market. No other bar in Macclesfield is pouring vodka anywhere near the quality of Smirnoff Black! But we’re not happy with just being the best, we are always looking to improve so we thought let’s do something better. How can we go better than Smirnoff Black for house pouring vodka? Well the answer is to go up a level to Ketel One.

Ketel One has a 300 year old history. It is still made in Holland by the Nolet family and still uses their original copper ketel or distilling pot. Ketel One is made from 100% wheat grain and is handcrafted in small 300 gallon batches. The first and last 100 gallons of each batch are discarded for being too harsh or too weak, leaving the middle 100 gallons to be charcoal filtered and stored in tile lined tanks. Each batch is then tasted by a member of the Nolet family before bottling.

The result of this unbelievable care and attention is consistently creamy and exceptionally smooth vodka with no bitter after taste, fewer esters (esters impart flavour) and fewer impurities. Fewer impurities means the spirit is less likely to cause hangovers.

So from May 1st the house pour vodka at Ronnie’s will be Ketel One. We are marking this significant step up in quality with a fantastic launch party in Ronnie’s Lounge on Friday 7th May 2010. However space for this launch party is limited as you will be in a VIP area separate from the rest of the bar. Tickets cost £50 each, but that will cover all your drinks (Ketel One based drinks that is) including a superb Ketel One Vodka Luge. We’ll even throw in a few canapés and everyone will leave with a Ketel One goody bag. It will be a fantastic evening which will start at 8pm and go through til 3am. Our resident DJs Bert and Brighty will be performing, but to reserve your space you must email me with Ketel One Party as the subject and letting me know how many tickets you want to reserve.

You will probably also have noticed that we’re doing a bit of building work at the moment. Well we’re refurbing the loos which will be completed in the next few days once the decorators have been (and that’s not a euphemism) and we’ve also knocked down the original bar, which we’re shifting across a bit to make it more user friendly for both the bar tenders and you our guests, which should mean you get served quicker with no compromise in quality. This will be functioning by the weekend and fully completed by early next week. For tonight and tomorrow night we are serving our full range of premium spirits, beers, wines and cocktails from the Lounge Bar (the one that opens up into the courtyard), so its pretty much business as usual.

None of this work is stopping the free entertainment we’re giving you by the way. Tonight (Wednesday) we’ve got our superb resident band the Virginmarys. On Thursday we’ve got Steeve Mac’s Soultastic. Then it’s the quality rare groove disco of Brighty and Bert on Friday (interspersed with other classics of course) and Steeve Mac again for his usual best party in town Saturday night stuff. You simply cannot under estimate the power of good music. Quality music is a key part of what we do. And we give it you for free. What more could you ask for?

See you soon
