Ronnie’s Blog – Celebrating Diversity and Free parking »

Posted on October 29, 2009 in Ronnie's News

I’ve had a bad cold. Man flu if you prefer. But I’ve been ill. It meant that I’ve seen a bit of prime time TV over the last few days. The things that caught my eye on the telly were X Factor (both Saturday and Sunday for heavens sake) and on Tuesday a BBC programme … Read it in full

East Cheshire Hospice Event »

Posted on in Ronnie's News

Ronnie’s Bar was the venue for a great charity event in aid of East Cheshire Hospice, hosted by Tony & Guy.

A packed courtyard saw a fashion show and had a chance to win a free session at Tony and Guy as money was raised for a very good local cause.

Why it has to be Ian Curtis……. »

Posted on October 14, 2009 in Ronnie's News

In my opinion the statue should be of Ian Curtis of Joy Division. Joy Division are a hugely iconic band who have influenced many and are of huge value to the town. In the same way that Liverpool rebuilt itself on the legacy of the Beatles, Macclesfield could and should rebuild itself on the legacy of Joy Division. As you know my bar is very prominent on the live music scene in Macc and I frequently champion the local talent that performs here.

Music and performance by original artists is hugely important to Ronnie’s and to the town in general. There are many very talented musicians living here.

“Ronnies is unique venue for us in that we get the combined elements of a great sound with an outdoor mini festival atmosphere. Our version of Woodstock fits beautifully!” – Joe Roberts

Sunday is the last day for your free glass of wine at Ronnie’s »

I don’t know what happened to the weather on Tuesday but it really did put a dampener on things. Well everything apart from the Loop Evening at the bar. It started with a great short movie about the making of the Joy Division biopic, Control. It really was well put together and got the 50 or so people who turned up in the right mood for a great evening, which centred on poetry. Yes poetry and it was excellent too. Two parts of the Fourpenny Circus – Joy Winkler and John Lindley – treated us to some, as stated on their website ( http://www.fourpennycircus.co.uk/ ), intellectual Viagra.

It was well worth braving the weather for it. And they performed outside, under cover of course with additional heating, in the wonderful setting of Dukes Court.

Cheshire Independent Offer »

Posted on October 2, 2009 in Ronnie's News

Last month, Ronnie’s Bar, Duke’s Court, Macclesfield gave customers a free glass of wine to help them unwind on a Sunday afternoon. The only way to follow up on that fantastic offer is to give diners a free BOTTLE of wine to anyone buying two main courses from the exciting new Winter menu throughout October.

Free beer was last week, this week…. »

I’m trying to get myself more organised. I’ve worked out a weekly schedule of what I intend to do each day. It’s an attempt to eliminate the things I get bogged down with, delegate the tasks I don’t like and focus on the things I do like doing, which it has to be said is mainly marketing (it’s not sad it’s what I like doing best).

I’ve even found myself a space where I get minimal distractions so I can get on with it. It’s all about taking control and driving my life the way I want to do things. Action and implementation is the only way forward.
